2009 Nomadic

My goal for Nomadic has always been to open it to anyone who wants to hold a festival. I am very excited to announce that a group in Arizona volunteered to hold one in their community this year.

THIS WILL BE A NOMADIC CAMPING FESTIVAL

Dates: October 2nd-4th, 2009
Location: Catalina State Park in Tucson, AZ.
Sponsored by the The Tucson Juggling Club
Contact email: tucsonjugglingfestival@gmail.com

Their club meets Wednesday afternoons near Old Main on the University of Arizona campus. Right now, we’re meeting at 3:00 pm. Later on in the summer we meet later in the evening. On Sundays we juggle at Himmel Park near the library, about E 2nd Street and N Treat Ave), also at 3:00 pm.

This is a very exciting event as it is the first one held outside of California, so set your calenders.
Other information will be posted as it is available.

I am also still looking for a California Club to hold another Nomadic in November of this year - 2009. If your club is interested in a one or two day event, preferably in the first two weeks of November, please contact Monica.

Hope all of you are excited for another year of fun juggling adventures!
If you have any questions about either event please contact Monica Buck at jugglergalx1@yahoo.com

Encinitas Nomadic ‘08 Rock’d!

I think this was the 6th Nomadic!
Bobby Hartman the sole organizer is Superman!
He organized the entire festival by himself. I was so impressed.
Monica Buck, me, did lend a hand at the festival so that Bobby could get a few bathroom and juggling breaks.
Thanks to the Encinitas Boys and Girls Club for donating the space. We think we made over $1000.00 to donate to them and say thank you.
I think Bobby had much fun seeing some of his old students from years ago who came to juggle and say hi.
Thank you Beejay and Tommy for the games.
Thanks to Peter Gerber for showing us how fun a Juggling Jam is and thanks to all who participated in the new craze. Thanks Jeff for the tunes.
Thank you to Puzzle Guy, Ron, for entertaining everybody. I finally made it to 100 on the Ball Maze!
Thanks everyone who came and had some fun! See you when the tribe meets again.
I am taking suggestions for next year. I have received some interest from a few clubs and I hope they contact me again with a plan to join the Nomadic Family.

If you want to see some pictures of this Nomadic please go to
http://www.myspace.com/nomadicjugglingfestival

If your club would like to hold a Nomadic Juggling Festival please contact jugglergalx1@yahoo.com. Any festival can be held anywhere and at anytime in the year. I will help any club with advise and point them in the directions of others who have even better advise when needed. It only takes 2 or 3 organizers and a willingness to give up a weekend of your life to have some very serious fun! This is a festival of jugglers for jugglers and all you need to do is juggle.

Nomadic 2007 a success in SLO

Filed under: — The TeachingJuggler @ 8:28 pm

Hey world. I am just so excited that the Nomadic was such a huge success! Thank you to all of whom participated this year. The organizers did a fantastic job. They didn’t have the venue secure until the month before the event and they whipped the festival into shape in a very short time. Go Bill and Leslyn and the Muddy Bog Jugglers! We had 3 days of fun with a show, workshops and games. We had an awesome after party at the docks in Morro Bay, a big thanks to Kevin and family for that sweet treat. We got to juggle on the dock and eat nachoes, pizza and socialize. It made this festival very special. San Luis Obispo and Morro Bay are two wonderful and scenic places. I really enjoyed going into downtown SLO to eat lunch on Saturday, sitting on a patio next to the creek. It was a pleasure the entire trip. Everyone juggled, played with puzzles, played Mexican Train Dominoes and had fortune cookies that had special juggling messages. Fun stuff. I am looking forward to where ever it goes next year. We have some choices so I will let people know soon where it will be. I hope to see everyone there next year! Keep those first two weeks in November open in ‘08!

The 2005 Nomadic Juggling Festival Was A Great Success!

The 2005 Nomadic Juggling Festival was a great success. We had about 130 attendees. The weather was pleasant, allowing a choice of indoor juggling in the gym or outdoor juggling. The atmosphere was very relaxed. Everyone seemed to have a fun time. The gym lighting was adequate and the temperature in the gym was very comfortable. A few people brought their unicycles. Financially the festival was a success. We donated several hundred dollars to the Boys and Girls Club of Ventura where the festival was held.

The public show was held a few blocks away at Montalvo elementary school. The acts featured juggling with clubs, rings, and balls, contact juggling, acrobatics, poi (normally we don’t allow that at a juggling festival, but Bee Jay made an exception for this act!), rola bola, and a guitar solo, It was produced by Stuart Sinclair. The emcee was Bee Jay Joyer. The performers were Donald Trump?, Tommy Stansell, David Cruz, Olga Galchenko, Matt McCorkle, Remy Holwick, Cary Pickford, and Scott Nery. Bobby Hartman assisted with sound and lights. Michael Ahmann was a stage hand.

Some photos of the festival are here: http://www.juggle.org/gallery/2005nomadic
If you have some photos to share, please email me at diabolo.slacker@verizon.net

If you attended the festival, please click on “Comments” below and tell us what your experience was like.
